Got the tip off last week about a collection of Saabs headed for the crusher. I was free to grab all the parts I could carry for free if I wanted them. I got a transmission, steering racks, a set of steel wheels, and more than enough hubcaps for them. But the cars themselves were a sorry sight.
I don’t want to say much about why they’re here and in this state, it’s a private story I figure. But they’re here. And they’re going to be gone soon. I really had hoped to find a car worth rescuing. But most of the cars had been left outside for years and the floors were swiss cheese. However...
This wagon had been stored under a roof and was pretty much complete and rust free. I’m trying to get it. Wish me luck. I’d hate to see a car like this go to the crusher.

O man.... I would take a grille for the wall. I wish these kind of cars could make their way to a Saab yard someone has going for parts....

Oh, a hoard. I see similar sights every now and then. Person collects cars, gets older, hangs on to them because he still has the idea that sometime he’ll get to them, time never comes but he won’t sell, dies, next of kin get rid of them.

Good luck!!! I hope you can rescue the fella under the roof, looks complete for sure! Is it a V4 or 2-stroke?
Keep us updated, I love these old Saabs!
Also, when did you add the second fog light to your wagon? Looks good, especially with them being mismatched, haha! :D

Any chance you can go back? I’d love to have the grille of one for some wall art. Also there’s a collection of Sonnets I similar conditions for sale on CL in Minnesota. 3 or 4 cars at least 3 sets of soccer ball wheels.

I grabbed two while I was out there. But I don’t think I’m going back. The owner has not returned the email I sent last night. For whatever reason they seem reluctant to let anybody have the cars, despite being happy to let people take whatever parts they want from the stash in the barn. Weird attitude.

The blue-grey one? I’m grabbing that. ‘68 V4. Needs a windshield and radiator, but appeared to be mostly rust free. It was registered up until the late 1990s.

Yes, there were the remains of a 2-stroke 95 next to it. It had new-ish paint on it, but was rusty beyond belief, and in very strange locations. I’ve never seen one rust in the areas that one was rusting in.
